ACS Crest

Co-curricular activities are a means of developing the character of the student outside the classroom. Students learn life skills in a different environment and in non-academic activities. The MOE has incorporated the non-academic CCA activities in the curriculum of a Secondary School student, thus emphasising the importance of a non-academic learning experience as an essential component of any balanced education system.

The Symphonic Band is the only CCA to be both a UYO and a Musical Arts CCA. As such, the ACS(I) Symphonic Band teaches the knowledge of music as well as inculcates the teaching and learning of leadership skills apparent in a UYO. We pride ourselves on the value that we offer in terms of a student’s holistic development.

Alumni of our Band association will gratefully testify to having enjoyed their Band experience. Some will particularly remember the firm grounding in music the band has endowed upon them, others the few – or numerous – good friends they have made. Still others, the strong sense of bonding between bandsmen and the leadership qualities the band has instilled in them.

Thus, in this brief introduction, we hope that you will understand the aims for the ACS (I) Symphonic Band and its responsibility as a Co-curricular Activity. We also hope it will assist you in carefully making the choice that will undoubtedly change your life as a student and as an individual. The Best is Yet To Be.

Yours sincerely,
The Band
