Sports in ACS Independent enjoy a very high profile as we have been repeatedly crowned as the TOP School in Sports.
Our school Rugby team has an enviable track record having won 17 National schools Championships in the last decade including a World Minis title in Durban, South Africa. Even more importantly, their track record has given each of the players’ self-confidence, mental and physical toughness to be champions for life.
ACS Independent in particular has established herself as the most successful rugby school in the history of the sport. They have won 10 consecutive C Div National Titles since 1997 and 7 consecutive B Div. Titles since 1997. In 2000, the teams completed a rare Grand Quadruple winning all genres of the sport, capturing the National Touch, 7’s, 10’s and 15’s titles.
Presently, we have 150 players and due the support of parents who were initially a bit skeptical of the game but have become our biggest supporters, our tours and matches are filled with supportive parents who are a source of strength for the team. Our school coaches come with an impressive array of credentials having coached and played at the National or Combined School level. These two factors plus the support from our school has had a tremendous effect on the teams’ physical, spiritual, academic and social development.
The success that we have enjoyed has not come without sacrifices but rather through countless number of hours of meticulous planning that the teachers and coaches spend to ensure that the programme runs like clockwork plus the discipline and effort from the players for the benefit of ACS Independent and Rugby.
