Math Competition Team is a CCA that trains selected students for Math competitions, namely, Math Olympiad, Australian Math Competition, American Math Competition and other local competitions. The Math Competition Team comprises three levels: Junior (Yr 1 & 2), Senior (Yr 3 & 4) and Open (Yr 5 & 6).

Selection

In the beginning of every year, a selection test is conducted for anyone who is interested to join the Math Competition Team. The selection test consists of 25 MCQ questions.

Training

Students are trained every week on different days by trainers appointed by the school.

During the training sessions, team members are asked to solve special Math worksheets in one hour. After that the trainers will discuss the solutions and show the different techniques to solve the questions in the shortest possible time. Some times they will also discuss new topics which have not been learnt in the academic curriculum.

Students are trained in different topics, like COMBINATORICS, NUMBER THEORY, CALCULUS, TRIGONOMETRY, FUNCTIONS etc.
