The ACS(I) Debate Club allows students to rationalise arguments and express themselves cogently. Over the years, it has evolved into one of the most revered teams in the secondary school competitive debating circuit.
Debates allow one to learn insights into current affairs, economics and philosophy. Critical thinking, public speaking and pressure managing skills are developed. Character is moulded by practicing flexibility, patience, and diligence.
Aptitude of spoken English, thirst for knowledge and willingness to commit are necessary to excel in debate. Ultimately, one gains a fun ability which is applicable in academics, one's social life, and one's future occupation.
Debate is an activity which requires wit, words and wonderment. It develops one's public speaking, critical thinking and pressure managing skills. It allows one to learn more about current affairs, past occurrences and even speculation into the future. More significantly, it allows one to have fun with a group of like-minded and eager individuals.
So what is debate? Some claim that it is:
Delightful
Elegant
Brilliant
Awesome
Terrific
Excellent
Verily, the Art of Argumentation does seem that way. What of the Debater? He is...
Daring, dear darling
Engaging, equals Entertaining
Boring broad-minded, but bombastic
Articulate, and artful
Tenacious, truly tremendous
Esoteric... Erm... Ebullient?
Rhetorical, really riveting
So... If you want to get the chance to become eligible for the opportunity to maybe win competitions and hopefully in all likelihood win eternal fame and glory, or if you just want to take up a hobby which can have real-world application in your studies and social life, then AC Debate Club is indubitably (or un-debatably) the best CCA for YOU!!!!
